According to media reports, 3 US fighter planes have taken off to retaliate against Iran. US fighter jets are flying over the border of Iraq and Iran. The US may conduct an airstrike on Tehran, the capital of Iran.
According to reports, at around 3.30 pm, many missiles were fired at Iraq by Iran. Several missiles have also hit the US consulate in the city of Irbil in Iraq.
Officials in Iraq said that multiple missiles hit the US embassy.
This building of the US embassy is new and recently the staff has shifted here. There has been heavy damage to the US Embassy in this attack.
Iraqi security officials said on Sunday that 12 missiles struck Iraq’s northern city of Irbil near the US consulate. At present, there is no report of any injuries or casualties in the attack.
Iraqi officials allege the ballistic missiles were fired from Iran. The US strongly condemned the attack. The incident is being investigated by the Iraqi government and the Kurdish Regional Government.
Iraqi Shia Muslim cleric Muktada al-Sadr said on Twitter that Irbil was on fire. Earlier in September, rockets were fired at the US base at Irbil International Airport, the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the US. Erbil airport has been attacked several times in the last few years. Drones equipped with explosives were used in most of the attacks.
