Kathua: An SPO (SPO) allegedly bludgeoned his pregnant wife to death in the Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir the authorities said.
The SPO accused of the crime Mohan Lal is absconding, they claimed and added that the house was burned to ashes by angry villagers.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua, Ramesh Chander Kotwal stated that special teams were established to catch the accused.
The incident occurred in Dharalta village within the Billawar region when Lal who is a police officer in the district police lines of Kathua and was off for the last three days and brutally killed his spouse Asha Devi (32) a mother of two daughters, after a dispute over a family issue, the officials claimed.
The SPO fled the scene shortly before neighbours arrived, according to the report that some angry people burned his home before the situation was put under control by the police.
The official said that the woman was pregnant of eight months and also her child died in her womb.
